Sims 3 Not Launching

Sims 3 not launching

Hi! I can't get Sims 3 to launch.

Have tried updating drivers etc and all the advice EA help desk could give but nothing is working.

I've seen some answers about the Alder Lake patch but not sure what to do once I download it to get the patch to work.

Can someone give some help or suggest something else to get Sims 3 going again.

(not affecting anything else I am running)

Thanks

@mermaid2600  Please force Windows to use your dedicated graphics card for Sims 3.  Open Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings, click Browse, find TS3.exe (without the W) on the list, and choose the high-performance option.  Keep the laptop plugged in while you're playing.

Please also disable Game Mode and Game Bar, both in Windows Settings > Gaming.

By the way, is there a reason you're running your 2560x1440 screen at a lower resolution?  You can adjust the DPI settings further if necessary, but everything will look better at 1440p.  You can adjust under Settings > System > Display.

Using a lower resolution and higher DPI to compensate can also cause problems with Sims 3, but launching the game in windowed mode should help.  To do so, go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3, open Options.ini, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).

@mermaid2600  Does the game look equally pixellated in fullscreen and windowed modes?  And a screenshot or two of how it looks now would be great.

Please do test at the screen's native resolution, at least for now.  You can always switch it back, but I'd like to know whether or not it's a contributing factor.
