Sims 3 Not Recognising Graphics Card

I recently got a new laptop (Toshiba Satellite C50D-A-133) with Windows 8.1 installed and an AMD Radeon HD 8210 graphics card. When I installed Sims 3 it came up with an error message that read something similar to: "Graphics card not recognised. Settings have been set at highest level. You can change this if you experience problems with gameplay." I have looked at tons of forums and followed any advice given on them but none of them have worked. When I use Sims 3, ignoring the error message, it worked fine but when I installed my other expansion and stuff packs the graphics would be set at their lowest setting and I could not change them.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok. Then I think you won't be able to play the game on that computer.

The OS should not be an issue. The game runs on Win 8 although that was not originally supported (for obvious reasons) but if the site says your cpu is to slow, then it probably is.
