Sims 3 not working after installing University Life expansion pack

I bought The Sims 3 University Life expansion pack at walmart and after installing it my sims 3 game won't work at all. It was working just fine before I installed the expansion pack.

    I fixed the problem, thanks for trying to help me though I appreciate it. I had to uninstall and install The Sims 3 and the University Life expansion pack.

I'm using 64-bit operating system. I click on the game, a loading icon appears for about two seconds then it stops and the game never loads.

Windows 8 or Mac ? or something else ?
