Sims 3 on windows 8

My sims 3 works fine on windows 8 except for one thing: my settings won't save, even if I reset them every time I open the game. As soon as I close the settings, when I go back into them, their back to how they were. For some reason aging it set to off, and so is basically everything else. Besides that, the game runs fine! It's really inconvenient that my sims can't age, because my family can't really progress. If someone could help me that would be great.

    1. Right-click on the icon
    2. Choose Properties
    3. Choose the tab Compatibility and set the mode to Windows 7 or XP

(names could be slightly different, for me it's all in German)

  • Try the following

    • Close the game and launcher
    • Go to documents\electronicarts\thesims3 and find a file called options.ini or just options.
    • Move the file to the desktop
    • Start the game
    • Set your options
    • Close the game
    • Start the game
    • See if they are messed up again

If they are, try running Sims in compatibility mode or as administrator.

I tried moving the options file to the desktop, and that didn't work. I also tried running it as an admin, but that didn't work either. I don't know how to run it in compatibility mode.
