SIMS 3 PLUS PETS vs Pets expansion pack

Is the disc in SIMS 3 PLUS PETS the same disc in the Pet expansion pack (sold separately)? My daughter has both but I think she only needs the SIMS 3 PLUS PETS. Is there any extra features on the separate expansion pack?

The Plus version contains the base game as well as the Pets EP. If you buy the Pets EP seperatly, you also need the base game seperatly but otherwise they are identical.
