Sims 3 save quitting right before opening

Hi i think i may have ruined my save file but i am unsure.

im playing on an old imac desktop from late 2013 (running catalina, processor - 2.7 ghz, graphics - intel iris pro 1536 mb) and my game started crashing frequently whenever i played for more than 2 minutes so i thought to uninstall then reinstall every pack i have plus base game (i have pets, generations, supernatural, ambitions, late night and high end loft stuff pack).

but when i reinstalled, i did every pack but the pets one because i know it is infamous for being buggy. i then tried to reload my save without the pets pack but now i can't seem to get past the loading screen where you play that spot the item game.

i don't know where to go from here ive deleted every cache that you can, uninstalled and reinstalled about 5 times since this started and i can't get into my save file at all. i even tried getting into my backup file but it crashes at the same loading screen. i've even tried purging my ram before loading into the game but it still crashes at the same loading screen.

if anyone has any advice at all that would be great and highly appreciated. i would just like to be able to play this family again if that's even possible.

    @Kimdraws23  The problem is likely that you removed Pets.  When a save is loaded without an expansion that that save previously used, it can be corrupted beyond recovery.  Sometimes the save won't load at all, as you're seeing now.  Luckily, you haven't been able to save your progress, so the save itself may still be perfectly usable once you've reinstalled Pets.  Please do that now and see whether the save works properly.

    Hi, firstly thank you for responding!!!

    I've reinstalled Pets and it's just crashing at the same spot once again. I think it may be corrupted beyond saving sadly. If you have any other tips or things I can do to save this file that would be greatly appreciated but I think it's a lost cause at this point ☹️ Thank you for trying to help though!!

    @Kimdraws23  I can try loading your save if you want, just to see whether I can fix whatever the problem is.  If you're interested, zip the backup (more likely to be intact), upload it to a third-party filesharing site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.), and either post the link here or send it to me.  Please make sure you've listed all the packs you have installed, and if your save takes place in a Store or custom world, list that as well.

    Unfortunately, there's not much you can do when the save won't even load all the way.  But if I can load it on my own Mac, I can use mods to try to repair the damage.
