I'm having this problem as well. I've narrowed it down to building a second level on my house as the cause. I can buy items for the house, I can have a baby, I can adopt a pet, I can change the walls, but I can't build a second level on the house and save. When I do it says "Sims 3 has stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution. The program will now close."
This just started happening since the last patch. Really frustrating. Any sure fix?

No. There isn't a sure fix but EA is aware and working on it. Hopefully they'll fix with the July Patch.

I uninstalled seasons and it worked like a charm. Not sure if they ever found a solution to the probem with seasons, but at least i was able to build the house i wanted without it crashing 100 times before i got to save it...
- I've been having the same problems. When the game brought me to the main menu after several failed saves I tried the copy town option. I went in built a wall. Saved-no problem. Did the same thing with blueprints. Saved fine. So try copying your town at the main menu.
