Sims 3 University Life PreOrder, have to wait a week?!

I preordered the game last week for the bonus material. I've never preordered from EA/Origin before but I always get a physical copy of the game. The link for tracking in my email was of course broken so I went to UPS's website and this thing is in Tennessee and isn't expected to get here until March 11th. WHY? Why can't they just email me the serial code for the game I ordered, so I can play on the release day? Which I could be doing right now if I never pre-ordered.
