Sims 3 won't install in Origin

The above worked. HOWEVER, do not do it if you haven't downloaded your other expansions first. I just tried to download Ambitions and, since I didn't install via Origin, it refuses to download until I uninstall and reinstall Sims 3. Unfortunately, the base game REFUSED to install via Origin, even after trying all the things Crincrict linked.

Edit: I posted too soon. *sighs* Complaining always works, apparently. I also exited origin and ran it as an Administrator and can now download Ambitions. 

did everything you said,it installed but now the only thing in bin folder is two jpegs,the sims logo and the ea uninstall symbol

What happens when the install wizard isn't letting me get as far as custom install?

I get as far as agreeing to the user agreement and it just stops working. It goes away and no matter how many times I retry it isn't working. This is the second time I've had to reinstall Sims 3.

- Go to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\__Installer

- Right click on Sims3Setup.exe and Run As Administrator

- Go through it until you get to Regular/Custom install

- Select custom install

- Change the installation directory to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3 ( the default directory is C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 )

- Launch the game from the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin with S3Launcher.exe

- Origin will now show that the game is installed and the game updater will open.

Done this and it worked. A few days later I turned my computer on to play and it's not working again. Just goes to install (but doesn't) and recognises it's installed but tries to install it again. I've unistalled it and done all these steps again and the setup isn't in The Sims 3 folder. Any ideas? EA need to get their **bleep** together, it should not be this difficult to play a game.

My origin games folder says empty, ive purchased the sims 3 seasons on origin but theres nothing there.

Ive tried every suggestion but NOTHING is helping, AND that means ive lost $20 how do i just get a refund?!

I followed the above instructions exactly, however, when i try to lauch the game how you said it still wont run, it tells me to re-install the base game.

(sigh) I love the Sims, but this is getting annoying....
