Sims 3 won't recognize graphics card

Question

Really getting tired of this. Brand new computer, windows 8.1, geforce 770 and the newest sims 3 update. Yet the land under all houses, trees, etc is non existent (it's a giant blank space and they are floating in the air), the water is a flat blue plain, and it's totally and utterly unplayable. I would like to play the game I've spent so much money on.

How about getting some support from EA (not a player) on this in the form of updated files so people can continue to play the game until the release of Sims 4?
