Sims can't go to work: "It's not your work hours"

Hi!

I've had this problem for a little while now and it annoys me a lot. Some of my sims (not all of them) can't go to work anymore. It suddenly started when two of my Sims weren't able to go to work after a few days off. I tried switching jobs with one of them but it didn't help. It didn't matter what kind of job he's doing, he's never able to go to work. The other one had a level 10 career and I didn't want her to quit her job so I let her retire. She got her pension money though. They often (not always) got the carpool message but the carpool never picked them up and when I tried to let them go to their work manually I got the 'It's not your working hours" message. When I wait after their work starts, it says 'starts in 1 day' or something like that. It's a never ending cycle.

After a while one of the sims died and I didn't pay attention to the other sim because all the other sims in the household could go to work. But now another Sim has the same problem after her maternity leave. I tried putting on valid career clothing before the carpool comes but this didn't work either.

I never had this problem before and it's just one save. It's a fifth-generation family of 10 (I use quite a lot of mods/CC).

Thank you!  🙂

  • I fixed my own problem! :D I used an older version of Nraas Mastercontroller and all the "It's not your work hours" problems are gone

Before removing certain mods, you need to make sure your sims are not using certain interactions or things the mod itself introduces to the game. For example, if you are using NRaas' Traveler, you need to send all your families to their home town before deleting the mod.

But as I guess you don't really know which mods you have, we are going to backup all your game before removing the mods, just in case. That way, if something goes wrong, we can just recover everything from the backup.

    1. Make a backup of your game. If you have enough space in your computer, just copy/paste The Sims 3 folder from Documents/Electronic Arts to another location. If you don't have enough space let me know and I'll tell you which files you need to save at least.
    2. Mods are in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/Packages. You can remove all of them (you have a copy of them in the backup) or just rename "Packages" folder.
    3. Delete the file scriptCache.package from Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3.
    4. Load your game. Try to send your sims to work, let's see if that works now withouth mods. Let us know what happens, that way we will know if it was a mod issue or not.

I found what causes the problem. It's my huge family. A time ago I let them move into a bigger house, but I couldn't move all of them at once. So I picked 8 of the 10 Sims, moved them into the house and added the other 2 with the Nraas Mastercontroller. And these two Sims have the "It's not your working hours message". I also put the woman with the maternity leave in the house using Mastercontroller. I'm really sure this is the cause, because when I moved the family again, the three Sims (the family contains 11 members now) who couldn't move the 'normal' way couldn't go to work and the two who couldn't go to work before could. So I decided to move the family AGAIN, this time using two children to move with the Mastercontroller and one elderly Sim with level 10 Music career. Now the children can't go to school. ☹️

I don't know how to fix this though, removing all the mods would be difficult because I use the Nraas Portrait Panel. I think I just have to cope with it.
