i have tried it didnt work, it happens in both places, i dont think so whats a mod? so far its one trip but its the only one i have taken so far
Mods are third party additions to the game that alter the game play.
Try moving your sim out and back in via edit town.
Do you just play with that one Sim or do you have other Sims in the family and does it happen to them too ?

then i dont have any mods i only have stuff i bought or got for free from the store ill try that. i have two sims and it happened to both of them

If that doesn't work either, try the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps/td-p/714/
You can also try moving your Sims to a completely new town for testing purpose. You will loose all relationships but other than that, the Sims don't loose any progress made. You save them to the library and put them in a fresh town. This way you can find out if the Sims or the town is glitched.
