Sims won't allow for interactions.

I just installed Showtime and Supernatural over the weekend.  Everything was working well before installing those expansions, but now the game won't allow me to click on my Sims so they can interact with other Sims.  I can click on objects and my Sims can interact with objects just fine, but when I try to interact with other Sims, no options appear.  There were others who have asked a similar question, and when I did as they were instructed to do, my problem has persisted.  Is there some trick to this that I'm not understanding correctly?

    Do you use mods in your game ? This issue is mostly related to an outdated social mod. Remove it and delete the cache files

    Go to documents\ea\thesims3 and delete these files

    CASPartCache.package
    compositorCache.package
    scriptCache.package
    simCompositorCache.package
    socialCache.package

    Do you use mods in your game ? This issue is mostly related to an outdated social mod. Remove it and delete the cache files

    Always remember to take your mods out when patching and only put them back if you know they're compatible with the newest patch.
