Sims3 -Windows 7

I have been trying to play sims 3 on windows 7 for a couple of months but when I am playing, the computor screen goes blank and a window error message comes on.  What is going on?  I was reading about windows 7 and other people are having problems also.  Can you help us.  What is wrong with the game that we can't play it on windows 7.  We buy the games and we should be able to play it..  If it can't be played on Windows 7 then let us know before we buy the game.  Hope you can help me

  • It works fine on Win 7 so that's not the problem.

What is the error message your seeing ? Are you playing on a desktop or a laptop ? At what point are you seeing the error ? After playing a while ? On startup ? Also is your game updated to the latest patch ?

Windows is  saying they are shutting down because of errors but the message goes away so quick and the number is 000000 and I  don't have enough time to write it all down.  I have the automatic  updates but  would that put in patches.  Could you please tell me how to get this major patch please and thanks.

The error comes up about 10 minutes into the game.

I had a similar problem with my old laptop that was running XP with Sims2. It turned out to be the graphics driver that was struggling, then causing Windows to crash.

Don't take my word for it, but lowering the graphics settings may just help.

Even my new laptop,  (with an AMD A8 processor, 6Mb of ram, and 1Mb of dedicated ram with the graphics card) which I'm using to run Sims3, keeps freezing with the graphics settings turned right up.

Turning down the 'Mirror' quality to half way (mirrors only) seems to help quite a lot on mine, as does lowering the 'Draw Distance', and setting the 'Detailed Lots' to just 'one'.

I know it's a shame to have to lower the graphics, but if it helps save it from freezing or crashing, then I guess we have no option.  ☹️

Like I say, don't take my word for it that this will do the trick, but it's something worth trying.

    Good luck, and here's hoping!!!!
