Sims3 email problem

My son downloaded the sims3 game and put the email address as www.emailaddress instead of just the email address without the "www". I downloaded the Origin and entered the address correctly without the "www".  Now the two do not match. I bought him a EAcash card and redeemed it.  It shows in origin but will not add to his game.  I am thinking it is because the of the difference between the two.  Am I right? Or could it be something else.
