Sims3 games shown in Origin still need the disc to play

Hi there,

I have been chatting to a consultant by telephone about this and he says that I should be able to play my games without a disk through origin. He advised me to uninstall origin and reinstall it. I have, and still cannot play with first installing the disk. My game is up to date (Patch 1.50). I always have to log into Origin, then the launcher starts but as soon as I press play then it asks me to insert disk. All my expansion and stuff packs are store bought so I have disks for all of them, and they are visable on Origin. The consultant advised that I did not have to uninstall and reinstall them from Origin. The only option from my game is "info" and "Play". I am running windows 7 32bit. I have searched blogs and still have not seen a response that can fix  this. Also do I always have to be logged in to play from Origin? Please, I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me what to do.

  • He/She is correct about being able to play without the disc through Origin.  I don't know if this is your problem, but a common mistake in this situation is that you must have the digital version of the game installed.  If you downloaded and installed the game using the disc first, its going to keep asking for the disc.  So you need to uninstall any games you installed with the disc.  Once the physical copies are removed from your computer, you can download the digital versions through Origin.  Just to be safe, make sure no disc is in your drive while you're doing this.  If this is done, then you should see the "play" option in Origin.  That's how I had to do it for my games.  Best of luck.

edit:  Also, no you don't have be logged into Origin everytime to play.  I play my games without even opening up Origin.  I just click on the shortcut of the game as usual.

This worked for me!  It took a really long time to reinstall everything though.

  • Ok, so how i did this was i uninstalled that game from the computer then went into origin and downloaded it from there after redeeming the product code in origin. Hope this helps and sorry if i repeated something that someone already said
