sims3: Problems with 1 specific household

Sims3

Hello! I have played alot with the family Remington/Jones but suddenly I cant play with their household or marry them into other families (to save them haha) anymore.

Everytime I try to go to their household the screen looks the same as if I look at the neighborhood or the last household I used just that every sims button on the screen disappears. If i try to marry them to other families the screen just loads until I exit the game. I have to exit the game everytime this happens, frustrating

I have no mods, just some cc that have been always been there and never been any problem.

i have tried this, but didnt work:

rectify it was this:

  • open up edit town
  • now instead of immediately going to the household you want and swapping - look for the button (on top of the library "bar") which says 'Change Active Household"
  • Click it and you'll find yourself back to pretty much the basic home screen
  • Select Choose a Household
  • Go to the one you want and choose

  • @Lysasophy  It sounds like one or more members of that household are corrupt.  They may not be salvageable, but there are a few more troubleshooting steps you can try.  (Just a note:  It is possible that your cc is causing the problems, as some items don't cause corruption until they're specifically assigned, or assigned to a sim in the wrong category.)  Before you do anything else, though, you should use "save as" and change the name of your save so that you have a backup to which you can revert if necessary.

The first thing to try is deleting the five cache files in your game folder in Documents.  They should be deleted regularly anyway; many of us do so after every play session.  For reference, they are:

    CASPartCache.package

    compositorCache.package

    scriptCache.package

    simCompositorCache.package

    socialCache.package

Even if this doesn't help, you should keep deleting the files as you're troubleshooting.  Try a potential fix, "save as" and rename the save again, quit (without saving), delete the files, and reload to see if the problem is still there.

The next step is to go to Edit Town, evict the Jones household, copy their now empty house to the bin, bulldoze the lot, replace it with the bin copy, and move the family back in.  If this works, the sims will keep their jobs and relationships.  Normally they would lose their promised dreams and opportunities, but since it sounds like they weren't active, that wouldn't matter anyway.

If that doesn't work either, you can try a clean folder.  Pull your entire TS3 game folder out of Documents and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game again, a new folder will spawn with no content.  You can copy your save into this new folder, along with your custom content.  If the Jones family is still broken, try another clean folder without the cc.  It might take another temporary eviction in Edit Town to permanently fix the sims.

If none of this helps, the family might be too corrupt to save.  There isn't really much more you can do to fix the sims without mods, but I don't know whether you'd like to go that way.
