Smooth patch is not working

I don't understand it at all, I've tried everything: adjusting settings, changing the numbers, and trying other versions... but nothing works... it started when my C drive got too full, then I got the tip: install The Sims 3 on D (another hard drive with more memory), so I did that and since then it hasn't worked anymore. When starting up I do get: game patching! So it does work.... only I don't notice it in CAS.... eventually I reinstalled The Sims 3 on C using a symbolic link, because we thought that if it's back on C, Smooth Patch would work again, but unfortunately not.... and Smooth Patch did work before, I discovered it in March 2026 and it worked fine, I'm really racking my brain over this...And I also don't understand why every time I reinstall my game, that Smooth Patch stops working... it's just weird and annoying, because I don't know what to do to get it working again...I do get a notification when starting the game: game patching! So it does work, only it doesn't do anything in CAS... I am using version 1.69 of the game.

Well, I found the problem: MasterController Integration. I removed it after a tip from someone, and everything is fast again now.

  • And the statues are normal behavior, it's the loading of the clothes I have; once that's loaded properly, I can click again. That's the reason I downloaded Smooth Patch; I was getting a bit tired of waiting 20 minutes for one sim.

  • prerrrrret  Is this only in CAS, while you wait for the clothing or other items to load?  Or is this in live mode too?  I also might not understand exactly what you're describing.  It IS normal, in CAS, for the game to be somewhat unresponsive while assets are loading, and then work properly once they've loaded.  It is NOT normal for anything like this to happen in live mode.

The Smooth Patch does help with asset loading time, but the easiest way to see whether it's working is to look at how quickly items rotate in Build or Buy mode.

The waiting is only in CAS, and in buy mode everything runs normally (I can see from that that Smooth Patch works in a certain sense), but I find it strange that it doesn't work in CAS; I thought it was supposed to work there too, because it worked there before.

  • prerrrrret  Are you using the MC compatibility add-on along with the other Smooth Patch files?  That doesn't actually work, in the sense that it doesn't ensure compatibility, and was removed from the upload a while back.  MC Integration should be fine with the Smooth Patch overall as long as the compatibility add-on isn't present, but perhaps you ran into one of the issues for which the compatibility part was created.

I also want to reiterate that when the game works fine without mods, but doesn't work with mods, the problem, or at least part of the problem, is one of your mods.  I said that earlier and meant it.  If you'd tested without your mods in the first place, and taken the results seriously, you'd have saved yourself a lot of time.
