Spike glitch

Hello I have changed my graphics settings to be medium (I usually play low). I played for about an hour or so and everything was fine. Now I have this weird spike at the center of the screen. It happ...

    Spycoo16  You're back just in time for this forum's reopening, which happened about 13 hours ago.  So this is the perfect time to show up again.

    The driver for your graphics chip is known to not play nicely with Sims 4 in DirectX 9 mode (but is fine in DX11 mode), and Sims 3 uses DX9 as well.  The newest driver from Intel doesn't have this issue, so please try installing it:

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/232155/intel-core-i71360p-processor-18m-cache-up-to-5-00-ghz/downloads.html

    Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

    As a side note, high graphics settings should be fine as long as your laptop is able to cool itself properly.  I've heard from others on this iGPU who have no problem on high or high-ultra settings, although you may need to turn down the in-game resolution a bit.  Any 16:10 aspect ratio would be fine.

    Hello, sorry for the late reply. I appreciate all of the help but I do have questions before I download. Is this going to effect my whole computer and if it makes things worse is it something I can uninstall? When you say "your graphics chip is known to not play nicely with Sims 4 in DirectX 9 mode" I am a bit confused because my game is sims 3 and I'm unsure if I use DX9 or DX11. DX9 is compatible with sims 3 right? I dont really play sims 4 so that graphics compatibility doesnt matter. Or is it a thing that is neither dx9 or dx11 and a new system that should work better.

    Also is the graphics intel update compatible with my lenovo yoga? Its a hand me down computer so i'm a bit nervous adding new things and just want to clarify.

    puzzlezaddict BROOOO (gender neutral) it works!!!!! I never realized how jumpy my game was before I did the install. Thank you SOOOO much, I'm not even joking. No spikes, smooth scrolling, and smooth zooming. I'm playing medium with no issues, I may try high graphics soon but right now I'm so good.

    I also found this reddit post (https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/comments/17erbdv/lenovo_prevents_me_from_installing_intel_iris_xe/) where people are discussing that lenovo kind of has notoriously bad graphics, and hadnt updated in 18 months. This post is a year old so I think that lenovo just doesnt offer the updates. 

    Thank you so much again this is going to make my gaming more fun and easy. I totally appreciate your efforts bro (again gender neutral)!!!! 😁
