Steam & Origin Interoperability

I own the Sims 3 and the Pets expansion from purchasing it through steam. When I log in to Origin (Which I recently downloaded as a requirement for BF4) I can see both of these games, though they don't show up as downloaded. I was hoping to maybe take advantage of Origin's valentine's sale to pick up some more Sims expansion packs for my boyfriend and I.

If we buy the expansion packs through Origin, will they work with what we already have from Steam?

  • usually if your sims3 base game is on steam then the expansion and stuff packs need to be from steam too , as origin digital downloads or disks do not work with steam, you can mix origin and disks

you can try get your code from steam and redeem it in your orign account and download the digital version of your game from origin ( asfaik you'll need to uninstall the steam version of the game though )

Thanks for the quick response! That's what I was afraid of. Sadly I'm a bigger fan of Steam than Origin, so I guess I'll wait for a Steam sale. 🙂

    Thanks again!
