Store content uninstalls suddenly

I have a recurring issue where all my store content gets unistalled suddenly. In the launcher there's a box symbol next to these items whenever this happens.

I have read all threads I could find on this and similar issues online and I have tried several times starting over with a new Sims 3 folder and redownloading and reinstalling all items. I have seen some comments saying the issue has been resolved with an EA app update but that's not the case for me. I have it on automatic update and this issue started fairly recent.

After reinstalling the items in a fresh Sims 3 folder, the game always works a little while, maybe one or two times I play the game (sometimes more), but suddenly when I launch a new game, the items will have disappeared again. I usually notice it in-game first and then I see they have been uninstalled in the launcher. All my custom content works fine, it is just the Sims3packs that are store items that this happens with.

I have also started on completely new save files and the same issue reoccurs anyway. I use the EA app. I have not tried to move back to Origin because I don't know how to do that or if it will work, I used to have other issues with Origin. The game works perfectly except the missing store items but it's not much fun without those and it's a shame having to redo all the lots I have made because of that. I hope someone can help.

@puzzlezaddict Update. I did what you said and content was still missing. It happened again today. Had to create a new sims 3 folder and slowly reinstall everything.

@puzzlezaddict They were intact. Nothing wrong. I did a clean reinstall of all my store content and backed up my clean sims 3 folder to see if it helps if it does happen again.

Did you find out how to fix this, it started happening to me yesterday.

@brookangelMy way was a clean sims 3 folder and reinstall everything. I'm keeping watch of it to see if it happens again. Edit. Put sims 4 instead of 3. Been playing sims 4 a bit so I got mixed up 😉

  • @EA_Cade I don't understand why this thread is marked as solved, with you stating that the EA app update fixed the issue almost two years ago, when there's clearly people still experiencing this. I don't even have the words to explain how bad this feels as a consumer, to have content that I purchased (not inexpensively) over 10 years to suddenly be unavailable (in a game-breaking way if you were playing in store worlds, which I was), because of a forced change to a new launcher. I have spent literal days trying to get my game to work, meticulously redownloading store content only for it disappear a few days later. I've tried on a clean Sims 3 folder many times and the issue persists.

This issue is experienced only by users of the EA app. Currently, our only legal option for a true fix is to switch to playing on Steam (requiring buying the game and all expansions again- out of the question for most- and on principle I will not pay EA more money for a problem they created). The loyal, paying players are getting the absolute short end of the stick, while the people who got their game illegally are getting to happily enjoy their game. It's honestly a slap in the face.

Is there any insight you can give us? Is a fix still being worked on? Or should we start requesting refunds for all store items purchased?
