Thank you for the solution with the patch, I'll try it out and see if it works.
As for the other glitches, the staircase is a normal staircase. I play with walls cutaway, but put the walls up whenever I place decorations on them such as paintings. Nothing should be blocking their way; I only put moveobjects on at the beginning of the building session to move my Sims out of the way, and then took it off. I didn't have any other cheats on, either.
it might have been the moveobjects to move the sims out of the way that did it one thing you can try to do to see if this is what caused the stair glitch launch your game then make a save as giving the game a different save name then send your sims off to the park or something once they are out of the house go to build mode and replace the stairs send a sim home and see if they have any issues with using the stairs if no issues then you will know it using m🤭 to move the sims out of the way plus no game time is lost
The telescopes are working again, so that problem is solved.
One of my Sims aged up from a toddler to a child; they are no longer experiencing a glitch with the stairs, so it probably was something like what you said. I still have no idea what's up with the paintings, though.
