Taking forever to save/won't save

My sims 3 game won't save, when I go to click save from the options menu, it brings up the saving screen, and then takes 2-3 hours to save before I give up and quit. Even if I go into task manager it says that the game is running! What's wrong?

I am not tech savvy and my sims game is having the same problem, I just spent over 4 hours building a house and now it won't let me save. Can someone PLEASE put a step by step SOMEWHERE that can help those of us who are not tech savvy? I am desperate!

I have this problem too, just, when it happens to me, when I give up and put the lid down on my laptop, when i go back on it, my laptop won`t come on at all! i`ve figured out how to get it back on, (if it happens to you, take the batery out, take the charger out of you laptop or whatever you have, and hold down the power button for 2 whole minutes.) but it`s still really annoying! also, in the middle of my game, when im just doing anything, the game goes off and a message pops up saying that sims has stopped working and i have to close the program. i really hope there is a solution to this.

Error 12 ? Did you check out the thread I've linked earlier ?

  • Hi everybody,

I would just like to say that up until just a while ago I myself had stuck saving screen issues. (Occasionally  even loading  screen ones too.)  And I didn't get any error messages either, the game just got stuck into an endless - or I'm assuming endless because I never had the patience to really try and find out if it will finish at some point (I read somewhere on the internet that for somebody with the same problem it did finish after a few days or so) - loop of saving/loading. Anyways, it turns out that my problem was that I had something in my "Mods" folder my game didn't agree with. I'm still in the middle of finding out exactly which one(s) of my package files is/are to blame, but the minute I only left in that folder the ones I was 100% certain were safe, my problems dissapeared right away.

So, just to note it,  mods can definitely be one source for this kind of issue, if none is used though, then no clue what the problem might be. (Not that I'm such an expert in this stuff. Basically if I encounter some issue, I google it, test the possible solutions, if none works google it some more, and all the while pray that at some point I will find what I'm looking for.)

    Hey,
Lost several games to this problem but the solution snowflake suggested worked for me. To try it, follow these steps:
    -Go to your documents folder
    -Select the "Electronic Arts folder
    -Select the "Sims 3" folder
    -Select the "Saves" folder
-Select the game file (it will most likely be listed under the town you are playing.)
-Move all the files that end in "package", except TravelDB.package, to your desktop.
Then open your game and proceed as normal.
    I hope this helps you!
