The new EA Desktop App refuses to load my Sims 3 game..

Downloaded and installed the new EA Desktop app as prompted, but it refuses to load my Sms 3 game. I get as far as the splash screen, then it promptly exits to the desktop. Non of the usual solutions...

    @BylineBelife  Your dxdiag doesn't show any good reason that the EA App would fail to run Sims 3.  You could try running the App as an admin: right-click on the desktop shortcut and select "Run as administrator."  But the best approach may be to just wait this out.  Even though the App is technically out of beta, it still has numerous issues with older games.  Hopefully those will be resolved before Origin is officially retired, but in the interim, Origin still works fine.

@KaraRose24601  Try forcing the game to launch in windowed mode.  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3, open options.ini (Notepad is fine), search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).  Then try again to play.

If that doesn't help, and you've added any mods or custom content at all, please move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents and onto your desktop, then test again.  Doing this will reset the options.ini file, so please reapply the above edit if the game still doesn't load.

It's working now in windowed mode! So does this mean I just won't be able to play in fullscreen ?

    @KaraRose24601  You can try setting the game back to fullscreen and to your laptop's native resolution (1920x1080) in the game's graphics options.  It might be fine—some people report that launching in windowed was only necessary the first time.

    But if you do find that fullscreen continues to cause problems, you could use an app called Windowed Borderless Gaming (by Westech) to get the fullscreen look with the features of windowed mode.  This app has worked well with Sims 3 for years.
