Downloaded and installed the new EA Desktop app as prompted, but it refuses to load my Sms 3 game. I get as far as the splash screen, then it promptly exits to the desktop. Non of the usual solutions and fixes made any difference, so I had to uninstall the EA Desktop thingy and reinstall Origin again, and my Sims 3 game load just fine. Any solution for this issue?

@BylineBelife Your dxdiag doesn't show any good reason that the EA App would fail to run Sims 3. You could try running the App as an admin: right-click on the desktop shortcut and select "Run as administrator." But the best approach may be to just wait this out. Even though the App is technically out of beta, it still has numerous issues with older games. Hopefully those will be resolved before Origin is officially retired, but in the interim, Origin still works fine.

Hey so my game isn't working as well. I did all the things you suggested and still nothing. I wasn't able to find an options.ini to even try and run it in windowed mode. I downloaded it on steam and now I'm having the same trouble with EA. I even downloaded origin (but that won't run without demanding to update to EA app). Don't know what to do.

@Listenatalie What happens when you try to play, for example how far do you get in the process of launching Sims 3 and what do you see on-screen? If you see an error message, please post a screenshot.

Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Hi puzzle ive been seeing your answers a lot online. I wonder if you know how to help me,
so i just got a new computer and i wanted to download sims 3 on origin but obviously that doesnt work anymore since they forced me to download the EA App. I did that, then installed sims 3, the launcher shows up fine. but when i press play everytime nothing happens. it just takes me back to EA App. ive been looking for days how to fix it but nothing worked so far. i read somewhere tho that sims 3 isnt going to work with 12th gen intel processor (which i have) so do you know if theres anything i can do about that? like something to change in my computer to get sims 3 to work idk. i dont know much about computers because this is my first one. or should i just give up trying lol??? thanks

@cendells Sims 3 does work on 12th-gen Intel processors if you limit the game to one CPU core as it starts to load. Please see the accepted solution in this thread for more information:

@puzzlezaddict Hey there Puzzle, I'm having the exactly same issue. I already tried to limit the game to one CPU core and it still hasn't worked. Do you have any other idea of what i could try to do? Thank you in advance
