"The process could not be started" error

I can't install downloaded content from the Sims3 exchange.  I've only gotten content from the official Sims 3 website so insure that everything I download is clean and working.  But I've downloaded 3 items and they won't install.  Whenever I click "install" the error message "the process could not be started"appears.  This problem seems to be very prevalent.

I have all expanssions and stuffs except for Diesel, Uni, 80's et all and Island Paradise; all disks and all working fine. I'm playing on the PC and both my Origin and Sims patches are updated.

I want to get some of the Venues from the Sms3 website but don't want to waste money buying simpoints if I can't make them work.  On that subject, will/are the venues available on disks?  It seems safer than downloaded content but if they're purely downloaded content, then I want this issue fixed first.

  • The exchange is where user upload there stuff and it's a real mess (everything BUT clean). Only the Sims 3 Store has items created by EA.

Did you download any of the free Store stuff ? Does that work ?

Only some worlds came out on disc. There aren't any venues that did.

  • Make sure your game is up to date. Sometimes the automatic updater gets confused. About games being sold on disc - my opinion is in the near future as cloud computing becomes common place and SecuROM (drm) is accepted, physical distrobution of software will disappear. Tombraider 2013 is download only and you have to have a Steam account. I have seen a trend that optical drives (cd, dvd, br) will not be a standard item. Some laptops don't even have them. Being connected to the internet is not going to be an option.

The exchange items are NOT checked and may require items from a pack you don't have or are not created properly. If free store items install then the problem is probably with the exchange item. If store items won't install then there may be a problem with the game installation. I can say I have bought venues and items from the TS3 store and have had little problems.

Sorry, my mistake.  I didn't download from the Exchange, only from the Store using Simpoints.  Since posting my question, I've reinstalled everything and had heaps of trouble installing Dragon Valley.  I've since been able to install Dragon Valley but nothing else.  I keep getting the error "That process could not be started".  So, I still need help.

I bought items from the Sims Store but can't install any of them.  I keep getting the error above.  It's very disappointing beacuse the venues are only available as downloads but I don't want to was real money on something I can't use.  And yes, i have uninstalled all the games, cleaned the hard disk of any Sims 3 remnants and reinstalled everything but it didn't help.  Could someone please reply and help with this.  I love playing The Sims but this is getting frustrating:womansad:
