The Sims 3 - 64 bit version on Mac is very buggy and continuously crashes.

Hi, I’ve recently decided that I miss the sims 3 and downloaded it on my 2018 M1 MacBook Air, since downloading it I’ve noticed a lot of bugs that make the game almost unplayable.

1. When fiddling around with graphics, my game became very glitchy and the screen became pixelated and the game crashed. This happened until I turned all the graphics to the lowest settings possible, but the game is still very laggy.

2. CAS is absolutely unusable as the game will just crash before loading into CAS (the video I have uploaded is what happens when you try to enter CAS)

3. After about 10 minutes of gameplay the game starts glitching (as seen in the video attached) this is very frustrating as I have spent over £85 on Expansion packs and I haven’t been able to do anything with them so far as the game is so buggy.

4. Small issue: the image of your household in the main menu is broken as the background of the image is not correct. Also reflections in game are buggy (as pictured with the portal to the future)

Is there any way that EA could release a Bug Fix for the Sims 3 - 64 bit version for Mac? As I feel that a lot of people in the sims community are having similar issues, which is a shame as TS3 is a very beloved game in this community, and it would be great to see the game back to it’s original glory and actually playable.

  • @pippinford  Your video didn't attach, so I can't comment on what you wanted to show from that.  But I will say that it has never been advisable to change the graphics settings when you've already loaded a save.  The only safe way to change them is to do so at the Main Menu and then quit to desktop.  This does not apply to the resolution or the High-detail Lots setting, but almost all the others require a restart in order to avoid graphics glitches.

Additionally, you do not have a 2018 M1 MacBook Air: the M1 chip wasn't released until 2020.  So please double-check your computer's specs and list them here.
