For some reasons the file can't get overwritten and they go bad because of that. Saving under a different name makes the save usable again but the bad ones are well, still bad.
So by deleting the bad ones, have I prevented it from happening again, or may it well keep happening? Sorry for so many questions, it's been constantly happening for the past 2 weeks and it's extremely annoying, especially when I've got so far in the game.
You can still get them again but you should be able to open your saved games again (were you ?)
If you get the error regularly I would start to save in circles. Start with save1, save2, save3 ... and then after a certain amount (I usually do 10 but 5 is fine two) overwrite the first one.
I also save before going on vacation under yet another name and before going home from there, before moving and getting married (at the moment I even save before opening the player wall). You can also backup the folder on a regular basis to cut your losses.
