The Sims 3 64-bit & metal NOT WORKING

Hi, I have recently purchased the Sims 3 64-bit and metal update and it took around 7hrs to install for it to then be incomplete and need to be reinstalled. I am not sure if this is due to a bug or the update is not even meant to be playable yet? Before the update, I had purchased The Sims 3 starter pack which includes base game + late night and high end loft stuff (obviously was unplayable because the game is incompatible with Mac). I was able to install the 64-bit and metal update as well as late night and high end loft stuff but all packs keep needing to be reinstalled even after installing. I thought maybe I needed to install the original base game after these issues and it installed fine but the other packs still aren't working. Is there a fix for this?

Thank you.

  • @luckypalmer  Try disabling Origin in-game: hover over your username, select Application Settings, then the Origin in-game header, and disable the option at the top.

If that doesn't help, try playing while your computer is offline.  Sign into Origin and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or unplug the ethernet cable before opening the launcher.

@peytonnelson  Alright, so when you say you can't play with your packs, are you saying they're not loading in-game?  The easiest way to tell is to see how many worlds you have available when you choose to start a new save.  Load the game to the Main Menu and click the New Game button, then let me know how many worlds show up there.  You don't actually need to start a new save.

Please also let me know what world you're currently playing in.

Sunset valley is the only one. And when i say i can’t play with my packs it says i have them “Unlocked” but you know when you go to the sims 3 launcher and it usually lets you select what expansions to play with, I don’t have that option it says I only have base game

@peytonnelson  Okay, I'm having trouble following.  You said before that all your expansions were downloaded, but now you're saying they're not?  These are two separate issues, which is why it's important to figure this out.

And just to clarify, there is no Expansions & Stuff tab in the Mac version of the launcher.  Even if you have all packs installed, you won't see that tab.

@peytonnelson  Okay, let's try this.  In either Applications or Users > your username > Applications, you should see a Sims 3.app, with a plumbob icon.  In that location, do you also see a folder called "The Sims 3 Packs"?  If so, please open it and let me know what's inside.  If not, that means you don't have any packs installed.

To open the user Applications folder, open a Finder window, click Macintosh HD in the left panel, then choose Users > [your username] > Applications.  If you don't see Macintosh HD, click Finder in the upper-left corner of your screen, then Preferences > Sidebar, and check the box next to hard disks.

If you do NOT have any packs installed, go back to your Origin game library, make sure to click on the 64-bit version of Sims 3, and scroll through the pack list looking for any Download buttons.  Many of us see our packs listed two or three times, and only one listing for each actually works.

If you don't see a Download button for a particular pack, that means your account doesn't have the 64-bit "entitlement," as it's called, for that pack.  In that case, you'll need to contact EA customer support and ask that the entitlement (specifically for the 64-bit version) be added to your account.

    https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/

If you prefer, you can instead contact EA Help on Twitter or Facebook.

@peytonnelson  There's nothing to find.  Your account does NOT have any entitlements for the 64-bit versions of your packs.  You need support to grant you those entitlements.
