@yobsvhs Simler's mod doesn't do much to prevent crashing. It attempts to address bugs that cause more minor gameplay errors and those that cause longer-term corruption, not instant crashes.
Additionally, there's no need to edit any file to make Sims 3 use more RAM, ever. The Mac version has no RAM limit aside from the system's own installed memory. The Windows version is already large-address aware, meaning it can use the maximum 4 GB memory (minus a bit of overhead) available to 32-bit apps. This is a mathematical hard limit that cannot be overcome.
I never said it prevented crashes, only that the game was more stable with it..
I also noticed that some active professions no longer work very well with the x64 version, the fix allowed me to find these professions (like ghost hunter)
I also know that a default x64 application can allocate more RAM without changes to .ini files
however, it would seem that increasing this value avoids some allocation bugs when the application is translated.
