I've tried all suggestions (new download folder, repair game, uninstall and reinstall) and nothing works. When I try to download things from the Sims 3 Store, it comes up with this error message: There was an error Downloading Content {0}.
I bought stuff packs at the same time, but since they automatically downloaded they went through fine, it is only when I try to download from the Sims 3 website.
I use the EA App on Mac.
@RebeccaCritchley Please use these guides to reseting Origin and the EA App to clear out all hidden files from either app:

Neither the regular uninstall process nor the cache clearing tools remove everything. But they do remove some data, so it's fine if you don't see all the files listed.
Once you've done that, restart your computer, repair Sims 3 again, and then see whether you can install one Store item into a clean user folder. This is not just about the Downloads folder; please move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto the desktop.

Puzzleaddict - I've tried that too, and that hasn't worked either

@RebeccaCritchley Please create a new admin account on your Mac, repair Sims 3 while signed into that account, and try downloading content there.
