The Sims 3 is not launching anymore on EA Desktop App

@Ricarde_Official  It's generally not helpful to start a new thread for the same overall issue when you already have an existing thread, as spreading out the info just makes things more confusing for everyone involved.  I've merged your posts together to keep everything in one place.

The reason I asked whether you were in the correct account is that that's a common mistake for people to make these days.  Your screenshots show that this isn't the case.

At any rate, let's see if we can get the game running through Origin and then go back to the EA App afterwards.  Please clear Origin's cache, which you can do by following these instructions:

Substitute Sims 3 where you see Dragon Age.  Once you've cleared Origin's cache, restart your computer and then repair the game within Origin (again, if you've done it already): open your game library, right-click on the Sims 3 icon, and select Repair.  Then let me know whether you can play through Origin, and if it works, try the EA App again.

The option to purchase within the EA App has been reported more than once.  I don't know when or whether it will be addressed.

@puzzlezaddict It's launching now through Origin, but with “An error occurred during startup. See details in the log.” error. I will also add, that the game was freshly re-installed. The launcher is creating game folder in Documents with only launchermanifest.pid file inside it.

@puzzlezaddict Ok So I have the game working normally until I am downloading custom content. I moved them from a flashdrive I had with the backup files and now the custom content downloaded and installed normally. However the sims store contents do not. Should I delete the files and just download them and install normally? Or is there a quicker way to do this as well because I have of course 400+ items?

@Ricarde_Official  If you use a third-party antivirus, please disable it and repair the game within Origin yet again, in case the antivirus interfered with the program files.

If that doesn't help, please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of Sims 3 and Origin; this is more thorough than uninstalling through Origin or the EA App, or through the Control Panel.  If you do use a third-party antivirus, please leave it disabled for this entire process.  As long as you don't do anything else during the process, your computer should be safe.  Start with Sims 3:

• If you have saves or other user content on this computer, find the folder they're in and rename it to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 3."
• Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
• Launch Revo, select Sims 3 from the list, and click Uninstall.
• Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
• Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete.
• Close Revo, and restart your computer.

Next, uninstall Origin:

• Quit Origin if it's still open, then right-click on the Task Bar and open the Task Manager.  Scroll through looking for Origin entries.  If you find any, click on them and End Task.
• Next, clear Origin's cache again (same instructions as before).
• Launch Revo again and uninstall Origin, and when it's uninstalled, select "Moderate" again and Scan.
• If Revo finds any remaining registry entries, select all, delete, and click Next.
• Revo will display "Remaining Data and Folders.  Select all of them except for the "Origin Games" folder, if it appears.  (This is where other Origin games are installed by default.)  Delete the rest.
• Close Revo, and restart your computer.

Next, download a fresh copy of the Origin installer:

Be sure to run both the installer and Origin itself as an admin: right-click on each and select "Run as Administrator."  When it's reinstalled, download Sims 3; you can just download the base game, to save time, if you want.  Please also install the game into a new folder, created on the root level of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games is fine but not C:\Program Files\Games.  You can set this new folder as the default install location in Origin.

Restart after installing and before playing, and also move the existing Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts if one is still there.

@avickiehilaire  Store items are encrypted, and moving them to your flash drive may have corrupted them in a way that makes them not work now.  While it's possible that you can work around this error, that's usually not the case, and I would think that it would take more time to troubleshoot it than to simply download fresh copies.

If you download a new copy of one store item and it doesn't install correctly either, please let me know what error you're seeing.
