The Sims 3 Island Paradise download and The Sims 3 Base Game

Yesterday I bought The Sims 3 Island Paradise download from Origin to make it easier for me to play without the disc. This is the first time I have done this so all of my previous games were installed from disc. 

When I tried to install it, it said I had to uninstall the Base Game and redownload it from the My Games section on Origin. I did this but when it asked for the product code it wouldn't accept the one that is in the information. 

In order for me to use Island Paradise am I going to have to pay £8.99 and buy the download version of the Base Game?

    Did you at any point register your base game on the Sims 3 website? If yes, make sure that you log into the Origin client with the same email and password and you should be able to download the base game from there.
