The sims 3 launcher and game won't work

I haven't been able to play The Sims 3 ever since Windows update. Started with the problem that none of the download contents appeared to be installed in The Sims 3 launcher and when I tried to install them, the loading frozed up in black. I looked for an answer and ended up downloading/installing a SuperPatcher 1.67.2.0240xx. After installing, the launcher opened up by itself and it let me install most of the download contents, not all of them because it didn't show the digital games that I had already (By that time I had CD installed games and 5 in digital, which before the Windows update, it was working just fine). I then closed the launcher and when I tried to open it againg, it just didn't. So I ended up uninstalling the SuperPatcher and every single game, then download/install them all in digital. The games all showed up in the launcher, the game version is now 1.69.43.024017, the download contents installed, except for one so I tried to install it and the loading frozed up in black againg. I tried to play the game and when it seems that the game is going to start it just stays in the black screen.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, have you found a way to solve it?

Thanks, Gigi

@GRFN10  What is the pack your having issues with? Are you installing from digital download or disc?

@roberta591 Well the last pack I purchased was Into The Future and it was a digital download. Right now I have all of the games installed as digital, because I unistalled all of the games (digital and disc) and reinstalled them (digital and disc) and it didn't make a difference. Before I did that I only had the Pets, Island Paradise, Into The Future, Fast Lane Stuff and High-End Loft Stuff as digital, and they worked fine until the Windows update.

@GRFN10  The disc version is meant to run with the SecuROM DRM that the game was released with. All the packs and store items have been updated to work with Origin with the game at version 1.69. The disc versions when installed have to be detected and patched for Origin. Some packs don't seem to patch from disc when installed. As you have already uninstalled once I recommend uninstalling everything. Get a program called ccleaner (there is a free version) and clean the registry. THEN install the digital download of the base game. Test the base game - start the game to you get to live mode. If the base game runs install the digital download version of the packs in order they were released to market. Test the game with each pack install. This will tell you if you computer is having trouble with one (or more) packs and which one(s).

@roberta591 Thanks, I'll give it a try and let you know what happens. Hopefully I'll be able to play soon.

@roberta591 I did what you said and not even the base game would work. So I uninstalled everything, including Origin and reinstalled them (the games as digital). After I did that, I only installed the sims packege downloads to install them through the launcher and everything installed fine and the games all worked. The problem is, apparently, when I place the mods folder. The game won't even work when I merge the packeges into one file. I'll be placing the mods/packages subfolders one by one and see what is actually causing the problem. I think maybe it has something to do with the last CC I downloaded.

But anyway, thanks a lot for replying to my questions and helping me out. The CCleaner actually helped with my PC and the game as well, they were running much more smoothly because of it. ^_^
