The Sims 3 PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hi, I'm having problems with actually running my game. A couple day's ago it worked perfectly fine, but now it seems to be doing what it was doing when I first installed in on my PC with Windows 8 (I had it upgraded). I can get the launcher to open, but when I click the play button, nothing happens, yet when I . go on to the task manager, it appear's to be running in the background processes. I did fix it once, but I have forgotton how I did it since then! Please help!!

    Well, if you've upgraded your computer/laptop to Windows 8, and you had one compatible with Windows 7, Windows XP or Windows Vista, then it won't work!Q

    But I have (as I said in the question) got it to work before! So how the flipping heck does that work!??

    Sorry, I have miss-worded that, I had my PC upgraded to windows 8 among other things, got it to work even though I did previously have windows vista, but now it doesn't work!

    Did you install any programs or otherwise change something ? Also do you have bitDefender installed which has a known conflict with the game.

    No, and I don't have the bit defender.. Really don't know.
