[The Sims 3] Program Crashes while Changing Camera Angle

About three or four patches ago, I started experiencing a fairly annoying bug involving the game's camera angles. I habitually use the middle mouse wheel to change the pitch and rotate my camera. However, using the middle mouse wheel to change the camera outright freezes my program. This is regardless if the game is Paused or in any of the Play speeds. This occurs most frequently in Live mode, but I have experienced this in Buy/Build Mode as well as Edit Town mode.

The only error name I recieve is simply AppCrash.

As for my computer, this is what I currently have:

Lenovo Ideapad.
Processor: Intel Core i3-2370M CPU @ 2.40GHz
RAM: 6 GB (5.86 Usable)
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

The game in question is The Sims 3 with Pets, World Adventures, Generations and Supernatural. (Bug was occurring before World Adventures and Generations was installed.)

  • That chip is below specs (you only have 64 MB instead of 128 MB). Also try updating your drivers.

    Lowering your settings is probably your best bet.

    Not sure what you mean about the 64 bit reference. Sims 3 is a 32 bit game and that can't be changed.

    What kind of graphics card do you have ?

    The graphics card in this laptop is Intel HD Graphics 3000.

    Swiveling the camera does seem to be the trigger for these crashes, yes. As a note, I had my settings all set to mid-level settings when I made the report.

    I'm currently testing it out with as low of settings as I can set it to. Although the game itself is still functional, there is some notable lag whenever I move the camera. I have a feeling it may be attributed to rendering objects as the camera is moving about.

    As I go along, I'll see just how much I can bump up the graphics before it crashes on me again.

    Not sure if it's related, but I'm making it a note anyway:

    Despite the computer being a 64-bit system, I haven't figured out how to take it off 32-bit mode.
