Toddler is missing from household

I recently got back into playing the Sims 3. I am playing an old save file and haven't had any issues until today. One of the families I am playing with had a toddler, but when I switched back to them, she wasn't on the household screen or the contacts list, but she showed up in the family tree. I was in the process of moving out and getting my sims married and having kids , I got him married and recently had a child.  I wasn't playing them when the child was born, but I could see her anytime I hovered over the family or in the family tree. It has been a couple of Sims days since I last played them, but when I switched to them, the baby girl was gone.  I don't see any Moodlet saying she was taken away. Reset sim doesn't work. I tried to revert back to my older save file using the. Backup, but she wasn't there as it was a save from earlier today. I have three save files.  hidden springs family.sims3 ,hiddenspringfamily.backup and hiddenspring family.bad.  I am assuming I need to go back further, but I don't see any more folders.  I tried testing cheats enabled true and had one sim be friends with everyone in the town, but I didn't see her picture. Is there a way I can add her back to the family or go back even further in my saves? I don't use mods, so I know that isn't an issue. I only have content from the Sims 3 store, and from the expansions and stuff packs, I have.

  • @Ravenblackbird1  This kind of thing happens without mods, unfortunately.  The game culls a sim, often a toddler, but some of the data remains for a while.  That's why you see the toddler in the relationship panel but can't find her anywhere in town.

If you'd like to fix this, the only way, aside from reverting to an old-enough save that you don't have, is to use a mod.  I would actually add several: NRaas ErrorTrap, Overwatch, and MasterController.  ET and OW do their cleanup in the background; MC doesn't do anything until you use it to issue a command.  You can find more information about all of them, plus download links and install instructions, here:

With the mods added, click on the house itself and select NRaas > MasterController > Add Sim, then find the toddler on the list and add her.  If there's enough data left in the save to rebuild her, she'll be added, and ET and OW will help clean up any bad data.  This won't prevent the issue from occurring again, but hopefully this particular sim won't be targeted, so to speak, the next time around.

I would also recommend using these three mods in general, for the long-term health of your save.  However, they're safe to remove at any time if you choose to do so.

  • Hello add an update to my previous reply I was able to save my game once I was able to add the toddler back into the family! I think i just needed the nraas error mod to run. Thank you again for your help!

  • For some reason, my previous reply isn't showing up, but I just wanted to add I got the mods working and to thank you for posting the guide. It was easy to follow, and it was very helpful as someone who has never used mods for the sims it was very helpful! I couldn't save my game after adding the toddler back into the family, but I think I needed to let the Nraas error mod run first. After it got rid of some errors, I could save my game.
