My version says 1.0.631.
I'm not sure if that's good or not but I'm having the same problem. I need to update but it won't let me connect to the ea download manager and I've re-installed the game already. I haven't re-installed origin because I'm kind of sketchy about it but I was looking forward to more custom content and expansion packs, which I won't seem to get because of this update thing..

😕mileyfrustrated: I reinstalled Origin ( didn't work) tryed to manually patch and got the good old "Update Error: invalid file found"
what now?
Well if you have the the drive in your computer, just go to computer and click on DVD RW Drive (E🙂 Sims3 and go to support and them you would see EADM and when you click it you should be able to install it. I did it but my sims3 launcher is still syaing that it can not connect to it. Now i'm just confused

Short answer for me:
https://help.ea.com/article/the-sims-3-super-patcher has a manual patcher. Either read the instructions on that page very very carefully or if you want to keep it simple just uninstall everything, completely wipe all remnants including the stuff in My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3, reinstall through Origin, and run the patcher. Then run the game, ignoring what the launcher says. You can download your stuff in-game.
Origin installs version 1.0 (pre-Origin), current is 1.55

idk if you fixed your problem but hears to everyone who has it you have to acces your sims 3 folder by going into your c drive and find electronic arts then sims 3 then you go to support and find the file called EADM open it there will be an EA download manager installer. hense the name EADM (ea download manager) just double click the installer and it will run if you have the latest origin it will ask you to go back a few versions say ye and thats all
