Unable to start game - Service initialization failed (0x0175dcbb)

When installing the base game, I can run the original version fine. When I try to update to the most recent version (either through the launcher or with the Super Patch) I get the unable to start gam...

Finally got it figured out. 

Went into the registry, but instead of just deleting a few keys that people had mentioned I deleted every last one that mentions the sims 3 or it's expansions.
