Uninstall and reinstall

I am uninstalling and reinstalling my sims game because it keeps crashing and I got a message that it needed to update Outdoor Life but when I tried it gave me an error and told me to reinstall.  I have two questions.

1. Is there any rules of thumb when reinstalling and the various updates that pop up?  Should I update after installing each expansion/stuff pack or at the very end?

2. I copied the sims folder that was in the Documents/EA folder.  Do I just put it back in when I finish installing the game so that I can pick up where I left off?  Or is it best to start from scratch?

Thanks!

  • 1. I would install the base game and then patch it to the newest patch. After that, check if the game works as intended without putting any of the EP/SP or user data back. If you're satisfied, install the EPs in the order of their release. For some, you wiill get a message that your game is newer then the EP you want to install. You can safetly ignore that message.

    2. I would first start playing a new savegame without putting any of your old data back. Check if your problems are gone and if it's fine, you can start putting the stuff back.
