@puzzlezaddict few problems- repairing the game did not replace the file. i did save the original file so i put it back in and made the suggested edits once more with no success and now i don't have a backup of the original anymore.
@x3littlewing It's strange that the repair didn't put back the original files; it did for me when I tested just now, as it always has. It makes me think more than ever that you have a second graphicscards.sgr and graphicsrules.sgr somewhere, and the game is using those files rather than the ones you've been editing.
A quick test for that would be to remove both .sgr files entirely; put them on your desktop or something. The game shouldn't start at all without their being present. If it does, you know you're looking for a second pair of files.
Anyway, I redid the edits myself tonight (sorry for taking a while to reply, but I didn't have time to do this until now), and they worked, with just a slightly different device ID for my card. I used all the other text I provided you, so if you want, I can send you that text as well. But I still think you might have duplicate files somewhere, or else the edits you're doing aren't being saved at all.
