Updating My Game

Everytime I try and update my game from the Sims 3 Launcher, I recieve a pop up message saying that they are unable to connect to Origin. I am not sure why because I am connected to the internet and logged into Origin. Even when I am not, the mesage still pops up. If someone could please respond with more information I would greatly appreciate it.
