Virus

A while ago, I had my computer smashed and destroyed, and I lost my Origin account of around 3 years (on a side-note, for some reason, I never actually logged in to Origin to play my Sims game, but I recently had to change a tad about my account which I never remembered having to do when I registered from what I can assume a system update of sorts and now I'm worried I lost Sims 3 since it says I registered today and I'm wondering if there's a way I can see if it's still linked to my account). Long-story short I remembered a lot about the game and decided to try and recover my account. To my surprise and joy, I got it pretty easily. Since I got it back, I decided to of course install Origin to my computer. While it was installing, my PC suddenly froze up and I couldn't even move my cursor, and it took a long time for it to shut down via the power button. When I restarted my computer, everything was lagging, barely anything would open (and if it did, it took like 20 minutes which didn't happen before), and eventually it froze again. Sister estimated I had a virus, and I think so too, and I had to reboot my entire PC.

Is there a virus or something linked to Origin? Is there anything I can do to fix this? Should I even try again?

Origin does not have any virus from the official site there are impostors out there so it easy to fall for one if you do have an anti-virus  some anti-virus programs can flag the exe. as a virus when it's not familiar with Origin   and do flag it Norton and McAfee do and need to be "told" to allow/unblock

    https://www.origin.com/en-us/download

i recommend if you don't have an antivirus  get one there are free ones out there i use Avast

and do get malwarebytes also a free version run that

  • yeah origin seems to have froze my whole computer,

    But it's not slow.

however, origin won't launch for me either.
