  • @NorgePlayz  The EA standard travel transition is delicate and breaks easily.  This is true whether you're traveling to and from the future or to a vacation destination.  When something breaks like this, the best thing to do is to quit without saving, clear the five cache files in your TS3 game folder in Documents, relaunch, and try again.  (And be sure to always save right before the travel transition, when you know everything is still working properly.)  For reference, the cache files are:

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package

For trait chips in particular, they often don't travel well.  You could try moving them into your sim's inventory to see if it makes any difference.  You might also need to try a couple of times to get the results you want; when you do, use "save as" and rename the save (so you now have a backup, just in case), then quit, clear your cache files again, and relaunch.

@NorgePlayz  If you keep trying to travel and keep getting the same results, you might want to temporarily relieve as much stress on the game as possible.  Quit to desktop right before you want your sims to travel, and clear your caches again.  Turn your graphics options all the way down, don't login at either the launcher or Main Menu, and turn off the hidden object loading screens.  If you can, empty out the sims' inventories as much as possible.

These steps don't guarantee that the travel transition will go smoothly, but they could help.  (And you can reverse them all when your sims arrive safely.)  But if none of this helps, then there really isn't much more you can do without mods.  Even with mods, these things sometimes break; traveling is just so fragile that problems can happen no matter how careful you are.
