Do they still show as installed in the launcher ?
Yes. I made the mistake of not pulling my DCBackup and DCCache folders out of my S3 folder before installing S3 Island Paradise. I did do the 1.55 update prior to downloading S3 Island Paradise. (Once I install new downloads into the game, I move them out of my downloads folder and into a folder on my desktop). I download a lot of stuff from The Sims Resource and Sims3.com as well. I have tried little by little adding downloads back to the downloads folder in my actual game folder, loading the launcher and reinstalling them. The box pops up after I install a group of items and says "success" but, they are usually not in the game. Although, they show up in the launcher with the installed symbol next to each item. I fought this war when Universitycame out, but eventually fixed it all. Although I do not remember all that it took because it was a few months ago and it took weeks to figure out and correct each issue. Issues are worse with Island Paradise. IE slow launcher load. Start up, see log for error, issues. Blank welcome page when launcher loads, script running errors, etc. Every time a new game comes available my S3 downloads gets trashed some how. Then I spend upto to 3 weeks getting them some what back in order. Thanks for your time.😕mileyhappy:

I don't think that doing all of those things before installing the sims 3 Island Paradise should be necessary in order to for Sims 3 to work correctly. I feel like simply installing the game should work just fine, and do not believe that the program should release the game until they have fixed the problems that they know are going to be an issue. I am having the same problem, and am still confused on what to do.

So sad!:womansad: I was really looking forward to playing too! Especially considering the amount of money we put into these games and EPs!!:womanmad:
As I stated before, to help keep my game running a little better and loading faster I remove the downloads from the folder inside the S3 game folder and place them in a folder on my desktop. Something told me to try this... and to my amazement it seems to have worked!😕mileyvery-happy: I went back to the downloads folder on my DESKTOP to copy the following folders and downloads back to my actual S3 game folder. They are the folders with the long numbers that are apparently created by the game itself but not recreated each time you load/play the game. The two folders have the ChallengData.package in the first folder and another Challenge.Data.package as well as a PassportData.package in the second folder. I also added back the SIX Dynamic Challenge downloads, I believed are also initially created by the game back to the actual S3 game folder. It still took a while for the launcher to load. But when I went into my game it seems that many if not all of my downloads from other websites are back in the Buy Mode area of the game! Yay!!😕mileylol:

Great to hear. Does that mean this is sovled for you ? If so, could you please accept a solution so people know that this is solved and what the solution was.
Thank you Well, not quite.:womanfrustrated: All of my stuff was not reloaded and when I tried to redownload the missing items into my installer I got the "Error during startup see log for more details" So, I removed the DCBackup and DCCache folders from the game and tried to add back all of my downloads. Now I am getting the "A problem caused the program to stop working... Debug... Then the Launcher closes. Of course it still takes at least 5 minutes for the launcher to even load at all since I downloaded this wonderful new game, Island Paradise!!:womanmad:
So, I just tried to open the launcher and this morning I am getting "There was an error during startup see log for more details." The issues keep changing back and forth. I am beyond confused!:womansad:

See if this helps you: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/FAQ-There-was-an-error-during-Startup/td-p/65390
You might need to do a complete factory reset on your folder: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps/td-p/714/
Thank you. The reset cleared the error. But, my downloads are still gone so I am done with all this stuff for now.:womanfrustrated:
I am so tired of all this drama every time a new game or EP comes out I am not so sure that I even want to think about buying Sims 4
when it comes out next year.:womanfrustrated:
