Windows 8.1 random freeze

, I'm on windows 8.1 and getting random freezes. everything stops responding, in game, pc is ok. the diamond above my guys head moves, but thats it.
I have it enabled to run in compatibility mode. reinstalled.

HP pavillion sleekbook
intel i3-3271u
4096 MB RAM

indel hd graphics 4000

While its not the best pc. I was able to load swtor and wow on it with little issues. graphics caused swtor to lag a bit from time to time, but from what i can see its more intensive than sims should be, and while some lag, it never froze. Any ideas?

    Hi,

    I think your graphics chipset is causing this issue. It's not the best solution out there.
    It may not seems like it but the Sims 3 is a pretty heavy game and it takes a lit of resources because there's a lot of calculation going on to make the town alive. With my old machine, my Sims took forever to change clothes if I didn't pause the game before.

    while i will admit its not the best. http://systemrequirementslab.com/    verified it meets system requirements only fail was on windows 8.1 since game has not been made compatible since win 7. However, I've seen many post with people able to run it on windows 8.1 so I dont believe that to be the issue there.

    So, I just making requirements. I uninstalled sims,pets,and ambitions, and then just reinstalled sims and ambitions. If i put laptop in airplane mode and disable my webroot, it seems to run ok. Although at that time , I didnt have much time to play, so i'll try more today. Assuming that works, does anyone know a way to easily swap between expansions selectivly? I'd like to sometimes play on ambitions, and sometimes play on pets. I know I would probably have to just have to different games going , thats fine. But i dont know of how or if this would be possible.

    It's called Sim Game Selector and it let you select wich expansion pack to launch with the game.
