WONT LET ME BUY BOOKS OR ANYTHING FROM BOOK STORE

Decided to start playing the sims3 again after awhile so i downloaded the sims 3, high end stuff and ambitions...during the installation of one of them there was some kind of error so i only uninstalled the 2 expansions and then reinstalled them. then started playing and designing a house which took 1-2 days and just when i started actually playing i went to shop for groceries and books..it let me shop for groceries but everytime i click the bookstore to shop for books my sim just stands there for awhile and then the action disappears. Not sure if its a glitch or has something to do with installations of the games. Really don't want to uninstall all games again and start over when i worked pretty hard on the house. Should I uninstall the games again and reinstall them? i was going to play even with this issue..it bothers me..because i cant buy any new books or recipes..so not sure what to do..twinbrook is the town i am having this issue with..anyone else have this problem or anyone know what should i do?
