Worlds won’t install after 2025 update in Sims 3

I updated the game and fixed it up a bit - reinstalled the whole game and I also removed mods that don’t fit with the new update. However I am unable to install worlds properly!

for example, when I go to the launcher to install a world it does not show up in ProgamFiles(Worlds section) or in InstalledWorlds. I’m really confused on what to do.

And in my downloads dashboard, it says the world has been installed to the main menu, but it clearly isn’t.

  • @kyungss88  Please try installing one world into a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, open the launcher to spawn a clean folder, download a fresh copy of one world, and wait a full minute after you think it's finished downloading.  Make sure the world's thumbnail has loaded in the launcher's Downloads tab, then install the world and see whether it loads.

If this works, you can rebuild your user folder, as described here:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Store-Issues/Read-First-Sims-3-Store-guide/m-p/13479974#M1296

Make sure to install each world on its own, not in a  group with anything else.

If the first world you try to install doesn't work, try with another new Sims 3 folder (you can trash the new one you made where the world didn't install properly) AND a different browser.  Firefox works well for most people.

I was able to create a new folder for sims 3. However when I try to install the world via launder, it pops up with a member login message. When i put my details, it just pops up again even though my password and email are correct!

@kyungss88  To cover a few possibilities at once, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  You'll be able to open Sims 3 without reinstalling anything.

If you have the same issue in the new account, please uninstall Sims 3 using Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine).  I wrote this guide for Sims 4, but the process is the same:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/PC/CURRENT-ISSUE-Sims-4-DLC-shows-as-installed-won-t-load-in-game/m-p/12942151#uninstall

Make sure you rename the Sims 3 folder that contains your saves so Revo doesn't flag it for deletion. I would suggest testing first in the new Windows account, again, just to be thorough.

I’ve managed to do this and the login error is not there anymore.

But my CC is not on this new account so is there a way to transfer it? or do I have to manually download them again?

@kyungss88  Anything you want to transfer between accounts, you can drop in C:\Users\Public, which is accessible from any account.

If you'd like to try to fix the issue in your main account, try clearing Edge's Internet Explorer-mode data.  The launcher stores some data there whether you use Edge or not.

You can also clear some Windows temp files:

    • Click Windows key-R, and a run box will appear in the lower-left corner of the screen.
    • In the new window, type or copy & paste "%temp%" (without the quotes), and enter.
    • File Explorer should have brought you to the C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Temp folder.  Delete all files and folders inside.
    • If some files or folders can't be deleted, restart your computer (a real restart, not sleep/wake) and try again.

Whether you want to pursue this is entirely your choice.  There's nothing wrong with simply using a new account if that's what you'd prefer to do.

currently having the same issue I deleted my Sims 3 because it was having so many issues after EA decided to bring back Sims 2&1. My installed worlds in Sims 3 are all missing and when I try to start a game it gives an error saying it strongly recommends that I restart because "sunset valley.world" is having an error and every other world. I found some world files and tried downloading and putting them in where the files should be in installed worlds and once again I have that same error code. Then I tried putting those files in the Gamedata/Shared/nonpackaged/Worlds and yet again same issue. Then I did what the forum says above, where I took my sims 3 file out of documents and onto my desktop and yet again there are no world files!!!! Is there any way we can get an update for sims 3 or some solution for this?

  • madspads23  Are you seeing the "serious error" message?  If so, please see the first post of this thread:

[Current Issue] Sims 3 "serious error" when loading save | EA Forums - 8322938

Please also remove all the files you've put in the game's program files, and repair the game in the EA App (Sims 3 > Manage > Repair).  You shouldn't need to install any worlds that way, and doing so can break the content that comes with them.

Instead, let's fix the "serious error" when loading an already-present world like Sunset Valley and go from there.  Once you can load SV, install one Store or custom world and see whether it loads.
