Longer Hair Idea

I've seen a few people use super long hair like that in videos and stuff and I think the main reason that it isn't included in the vanilla game is because of clipping issues. Your sim can't sit in a chair and move their head around normally without the long hair clipping through the seat or the back.

This hair style even has clipping issues in Conan Exiles too. So that really can't be helped at this time, despite of how much I would love to see the clipping issue to go away. But they still can add this hair style to Sims 4 despite of the clipping issue. The clipping issue is an annoyance to players all over the world. But that can be over looked by players by simply ignoring that it's there. I do this in Conan Exiles all the time. I get so focused on what I'm doing in the game to the point that I don't see the clipping issue with the long hair styles in Conan Exiles any more. In fact this hair style clips through a thick armor, when I have my exile wear her thick armor in the game. Conan Exiles has a long French braid hair style which is even longer than the hair style that I'm posting about here. And a high ponytail hair style too, and both of those hair styles even clips through the exiles if the wind is blowing on an exile's back. Yes the hair moves in Conan Exiles, the hair even hangs down if an exiles is sideways or is in a position where their back is the ground. :)

It could, but how ever there are already long hair styles in Sims 4 already that could have the same clipping issue. The NPC sim Summer Holiday, she has a long French braid hair style. With Summer Holiday having long hair in the game, I would say the clipping issue with long hair on an over weight sim already exists in the game if it was going to be an issue in the game.

Does any of the hair in TS4 go below shoulder length? I haven't seen any but don't have any new packs since Parenthood. If it doesn't there is a reason, because of clipping issues with hoodies, or particular other clothes and no one wants to see that. It was a problem in all of them.

I haven't seen any that goes below the middle of the back yet, and I have every Pack that was released for TS4 to date. But I know that the NPC sim Summer Holiday's hair stops at the bottom of her shoulder blades or a little lower than that. I don't know if one can consider that being longer than shoulder length. Well as I have stated above, this hair style that I was asking for has clipping issues with certain clothing and armor in Conan Exiles. But I have never seen any clipping issues between this or any other long hair style and helms and hoods in Conan Exiles so far. Even with all the updates that Conan Exiles has gotten to date. But that's not to say that TS4 won't have any issues with that.

But her hair is a ponytail, hair that reaches the top of the shoulders in these games are usually as far as Maxis is willing to go. Because any custom hair that is long, curly or straight, that goes past the shoulders in all these games bleed into the shirt collars, the actual shoulders, and their clothes. It is not noticable sometimes until the Sim moves. I'm not sure they can actually ever build a longer mesh that falls about the shoulders and longer without it clipping/bleeding into their body and clothes. And those type hairstyles won't work for all tops and clothes.

ETA: It might work if it was not around the shouldes as you described but what if there was an outfit that required a backpack? It would clip into it, so longer hair is usually a no from Maxis because of very bad clipping issues when they move.

Top of the shoulders to me would be where your neck would meet your shoulders. No Summer Holiday's hair isn't a ponytail, it's a long braided hair style. Summer's hair is even in the long hair category in the game. And even comes in a multi-color version. Are you sure that you aren't getting Penny's who is a San Myshuno townie who's hair is a long and some what high ponytail or maybe even the ponytail that came in GTW? Penny's ponytail could be consider shoulder length since starts high enough up on her head.
ETA: It just occur to me. Are you referring to Liberty who is Summer Holiday's roommate in the game? Liberty has a double ponytail hair style that stops at the top of her shoulders, and is a brunette. Summer is the blonde with long braid in that household. Both Summer and Liberty are YA females that live with a YA male in WC.

It wouldn't be any different than a sim's skirt clipping through the seat of a chair while she's sitting in a chair. Which already occurs in TS4 anyways. So why should hair that long clipping through something be any different? It shouldn't because clipping is clipping in a video game. It matters not as to what is doing the clipping. Clipping is annoying all around, no matter if it's the hair, clothing, hands, feet, or head that's doing the clipping. I had my exile sitting on her thrown in Conan Exiles one day, and part of her left foot from the toes to the arch of her foot was clipping through the floor. That stopped of course when I had her get up from her thrown. Plus the back of her head would clip through the ground when ever I have her sleep on the ground. And before you ask, why don't I just have my exile sleep in her bed rather than on the ground? I would love too have her sleep in her bed. But I can't because exiles can't sleep in beds in Conan Exiles, even though they have beds in the game. Beds are a spawning point for when a exile dies in Conan Exiles.

Long hair would be nice, yes, but the issues involved with creating it would make it not worth the effort, honestly. As many people in this discussion have stated, the clipping and unnatural bending of hair would eventually deter people from choosing long hair in the first place, so it isn't really worth the trouble.

Long hair in TS4 is medium hair to me. Long hair to me is hair is what we had in TS3, that is close mid-back length. Like the picture below which is of a base game TS3 hair (I believe it was base game). Why don't we have that in TS4 ? Of course there might be clipping issues with clothes, but there are some already in the game. Some hairs like the straight hair with bangs from Cats and Dogs are longer at the back but the front part is short. It's still nice though.
