sad moodlets after death

so recently my sim got a phone call that one of her acquaintances died. she'd only met this lady once and the exchange was so brief i didn't even remember it, yet my sim was sad for two days afterwards. i think the sad moodlet that comes with an acquaintance's death shouldn't be so prominent. it gets annoying.

sad moodlets after a sim's death should vary in time and severity depending on the strength of the relationship. if they didn't know each other well and they only met once at rattlesnake juice, for example, then the moodlet should be small. if they were good friends, then the moodlet would be bigger.

this is just something that's been circulating in my head for a while and i needed to share it. what are other people's thoughts?

The phone thing is a problem that has been heavily discussed. Really doesn't make any sense to even get a text message about a person you weren't friends with saying they are about to die or have passed away. It's just a game mechanic they introduced to let you know the sim is about to get culled out of existence.

The phone think is a problem especially when they congratulate you on an engagement or marriage all you say is ok. Like I would say thank you so much.

Or when you meet a new friend, get into a relationship, have a kid...

Exactly I'm like my Sims are so rude.
  • @Briana2425 - when I was a kid, our next-door neighbors came to live with us for a month because of damage from a house fire, so, ime, the tense moodlet from a fire is realistic. (We got more tense as time went on, because our neighbors got on our nerves; we weren't well-suited as housemates! )

I completely agree about the sad moodlet from acquaintances' deaths. Reminds me of culling, where, in spite of hearting my families and marking them as played, the game culls MY sims' relationships instead of some random townie they just met. Grrrrrr!

Not a programmer, but I can't help believing that they've programmed the game to weight random npcs' relationships higher than our own, when our own sims' relationships aren't maxed out. :/
  • One of my sims kids came over everyday after I got the notification that I was one of my elders last days - then the whole remaining household was sad for over a sim week and incapable of doing anything
